Adriano Pastore was born in Munich, Germany. He received a Diplôme de l’École Centrale Paris (ECP) in 2006 as well as a Dipl.-Ing. degree in electrical engineering in 2009 under the supervision of Dr. Michael Joham from the Associate Institute for Signal Processing Methods headed by Prof. Wolfgang Utschick at the Technische Universität München (TUM).

From 2009 to 2014, he has been working as a research assistant and obtained his PhD from the Department of Signal Theory and Communications at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya under the supervision of Javier Rodríguez Fonollosa. He took part in the Consolider COMONSENS project as well as the FREEDOM project funded by the European Commission. He was appointed as teaching assistant for the Information Theory class in the MINT Master program.

From 2014 to 2016 he has been a postdoctoral researcher at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in the Laboratory for Information in Networked Systems (LINX) headed by Prof. Michael Gastpar.

His topics of interest lie mainly in the fields of information and communication theory, channel coding/error-correcting codes, physical-layer network coding, quantum key distribution, machine learning for wireless communications, and privacy-utility tradeoffs.

He is currently Principal Investigator (PI) of the national project ARISTIDES (2019-2021) on statistical learning and inference for high-dimensional communication systems, and serves as a supervisor within the Horizon 2020 (H2020) Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action International Training Network WINDMILL (2019-2022), which aims at developing cutting-edge machine learning algorithms for wireless communications. He has also participated in projects funded by the European Commission, such as H2020 FANTASTIC-5G, and direct industrial contracts such as with Software Radio Systems (SRS).

He has recently been Exhibit Chair of the ICASSP 2020 conference and has co-chaired and co-organized the 6th IRACON Training School on Machine and Deep Learning Techniques for (Beyond) 5G Wireless Communication Systems (April 2019) and the IEEE ComSoc Autumn School on Network Slicing and Data-Driven Communication (November 2019). He coordinates the working group on Infrastructure and Testbeds within the 5G Barcelona consortium.

Since 2019 he is IEEE Senior Member. He is a frequent reviewer of top-tier journal publications and has served on Technical Program Committees (TPC) in numerous conferences. Currently he is TPC member of the IEEE Globecom 2020 Workshop OpenMLC (Open Workshop on Machine Learning in Communications).
