Joel Compte Prades pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Systems at Escola d’Enginyeria de Telecomunicació i Aeroespacial de Castelldefels (EETAC) from 2018 to 2022. During this period, he completed his curricular internship with the Quantum Information Theory group at the Institut de Ciències Fotòniques (ICFO), contributing to proving the non-classicality property of triple photons generated by χ3 processes. Additionally, he conducted his Final Degree Project at ICFO in the Quantum Engineering of Light group. The project focused on exploring the fundamentals and limitations of a multidimensional quantum teleportation scheme.

Between 2022 and 2023, Joel pursued a Master’s degree in Photonics through collaboration among three universities and a photonics research institute (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, UPC; Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, UAB; Universitat de Barcelona, UB; and Institut de Ciències Fotòniques, ICFO). From the various specialization options offered by the master’s program, he decided to choose the Quantum Optics path. He conducted his Final Master Thesis at ICFO’s optoelectronic group. There, he characterized a Time-to-Digital Converter (TDC) implemented on an FPGA, implemented the Wave Union architecture, and subsequently recharacterized this new TDC.

Currently, Joel Compte Prades is employed at CTTC in the Packet Optical Networks and Services (PONS) group as a reconfigurable hardware technologist.
