Mobile Networks (MONET)
Acronym: SCALE

The overall goal of the project SCALE is to study and define a set of network-level intelligent functions for 3G, 4G, and beyond 4G network deployments. Research activities involve the study of SON capabilities: a combination of self-configuration, self-healing and self-optimization functions in nodes at the network level.

This automation of processes at the network level leads to rapid deployments as well as a decrease of manual errors, and operating costs. In this context, the SON functions studied in this agreement aim at supporting network complexity, such as resource management, in an intelligent way. The  challenge is to maintain excellent user experience, while reducing the CAPEX/OPEX cost requirements. To do this, the SON capabilities must be distributed, scalable, and agnostic to the wireless technology underneath.
