Snapshot-based positioning might be of interest in certain applications in which the GNSS receiver needs to work with only part of the received RF signal (i.e. snapshots of it). An example of this can be found in current mass-market receivers in which the receiver is continuously switching on and off the signal tracking in order to save power. Another example of application is the cloud-based GNSS positioning, in which snapshots of the received signals are transmitted to the cloud, where it is processed and the position is obtained. In these cases the tracking of the GNSS signals is typically performed in open-loop per snapshot since a continuous signal is not available, being closed-loop tracking techniques not appropriated. The objective of the activity is the design and assessment of open-loop tracking techniques in harsh propagation conditions for its possible application to snapshot-based positioning. In particular, the techniques applied should be focused on -but not limited to- the tracking of high-order BOC signals in which the unambiguous tracking problem appears. Furthermore, special attention will be given to multi-correlator-based techniques.
