CTTC has recently kicked off the 3-year project AROMA3D-Space that, in collaboration with its sister projects AROMA 3D-Earth and AROMA3D-Hybrid, aims at developing a sustainable and reliable 3-dimensional (3D) wireless network. AROMA3D-Space will investigate advanced technologies well beyond today’s 3GPPP standardization work, such as large-scale MIMO solutions over satellite, multi-satellite federated beamforming, inter-satellite communication, and inter-satellite spectrum sharing solutions, or processing in the sky solutions based on mobile edge computing (MEC).

Additionally, by improving energy efficiency AROMA 3D-Space will contribute to the effort towards greener environments. AROMA 3D-Space also plans for the first in-orbit validation of pre-6G non-terrestrial networks (NTN) concepts in a relevant environment. AROMA 3D counts with the financial support of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation under the project Next Generation EU and the framework of the Spanish Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan. AROMA 3D is led by the CTTC.
