Start: 01/01/2024
End: 30/01/2024
Funding: National, Industrial
Status: Completed
Research unit:
Adaptive Processing Technologies (ADAPT)
Acronym: MEDEVA

The objective of CTTC’s MEDEVA project is to conduct theoretical and experimental assessment on the goodness of the 5G mmWave/FR2 radio solutions to meet the needs of private network deployments demanding massive capacity. Such private networks can be deployed in crowded areas and hotspots with a large number of smartphone users like intermodal transportation stations, stadiums, large indoor events or busy touristic places.

To that end, MEDEVA comprises studies on 5G-NR mmW deployment strategies for high-capacity networks, defining requirements to build an end-to-end (E2E) experimental platform, advanced simulations with 5G-LENA at FR2 bands for different traffic models, and the deployment of a mmW demonstrator to evaluate different link quality parameters versus blockage, beam mismatch and link range for different scenarios.
