Talk: Measuring Ground Movements from Space

On March 11th, “Dilluns de Ciència” will feature a talk about the scope of current satellite-based technology. Oriol Monserrat, a researcher of the Geomatics research unit at CTTC will present: : Nowadays, there is a wide range of satellites equipped with radar sensors that allow for the measurement and monitoring of ground movements, providing crucial data to understand phenomena such as earthquakes, landslides, or subsidence. This talk will briefly introduce how these measurements are conducted, what the most important applications are, and how they are utilized in various aspects of our daily lives, such as disaster prevention and urban planning.
