The Global Ground Motion Service (GGMS) will be the first online, on-demand, land deformation monitoring platform based on Interferometric SAR (InSAR) and other remote sensing (RS) techniques. A novel, InSAR processing will be the principal technology. This unique platform will provide critical information on the stability of the ground and objects to thousands of users around the world, who have no access to a convenient tool today. The service will democratise the access to the geotechnical information, which is critical for effective monitoring, safety and resilience of habitational areas, assets and infrastructures globally. Land deformations such as landslides, subsidence, sinkholes or anthropogenic deformation are a big problem causing multibillion euro damage and creating a threat to the safety of people and assets. Aggravated by climate change and increasing natural resources exploitation, it grows bigger. Practitioners crave for an effective, easy to access and affordable monitoring and early warning solution, which represents a rare business opportunity to create a fully digital global market leader with a unique technology and business model. This is a high impact project that addresses many SDGs and makes significant contribution to safety and sustainability.
