ABSTRACT:
Li-Fi (Light Fidelity) is a technology for wireless communication that uses light to provide data transmission and illumination services simultaneously. From the beginning, Li-Fi has been designed to give to the end-user a connectivity experience that is similar to Wi-Fi. Among other advantages, Li-Fi guarantees highly secured data transmissions, can be used in areas where radio waves are prohibited, and enables a uniform connectivity indoors where, for different reasons, Wi-Fi cannot do it.
Lucibel is an innovative French group that designs and manufactures new-generation lighting products and solutions based on LED technology. Lucibel has developed the very-first Li-Fi-enabled lighting fixture, which provides LED-light-based Internet access. In this weekly seminar, an overview of the Li-Fi technology will be given, along with an on-site demonstration of the solutions that Lucibel has developed to enable wireless access networks and Internet-of-Things (IoT) deployments using optical signals.
