Weekly Seminar: “NB-IoT Testbed and Use Cases: Device Design and Experience with Real-World Operator Network”

25/02/2020 - 25/02/2020

ABSTRACT:

NB-IoT is a recent addition to 3GPP 4G standardization which represents a first step towards massive Machine-Type Communications (mMTC) services to be further developed as part of 5G technology. In this talk, we describe the collaboration of ICONIC centre research team at the University of Novi Sad with a mobile operator in Serbia in the domain of designing NB-IoT end-user devices that serve as a platform to test the network performance and collect large data sets of measurements related to device radio conditions, energy consumption and communication procedures. Several fully developed application scenarios are presented and first-hand experience provided that include complete end-to-end NB-IoT based communication between end-user devices and cloud servers deployed over real-world mobile operator network.
