Competitive open access to the CTTC’s experimental infrastructure is offered to researchers from across the scientific community. The requests received will be analysed, prioritised and managed according to the following protocol based on a two-phase assessment.
Phase I. Description of the proposal and needs:
The applicant must present the scientific objectives, the progress with respect to the state of the art, the expected impact, the justification for the use of the platform and the resources required (computer nodes, network elements, optical devices, software or necessary services).
Initial evaluation: the relevance of the proposed research and the feasibility of carrying out the requested experiments in the CTTC infrastructure will be assessed.
Phase II. Detailed definition of the experiment:
For the pre-selected proposals, the CTTC and the user will jointly define the work plan, configurations, algorithms, technical adaptations, final resources and specific needs.
Final validation and deployment: the experiment will be deployed only if there is a technical and operational agreement, taking into account the adequacy of the research plan, the methodology and the resources requested.
Access can be made both physically or in person at the CTTC facilities and remotely, in those cases where the technical characteristics of the platform allow it. After the execution of the experiments, it is expected a final report is produced to document the activities carried out, the data or evidence obtained and the main conclusions. Personnel responsible for operating the infrastructure may provide technical support if needed.
