Who are we looking for?

The Space and Resilient Communications and Systems (SRCOM) Unit is looking for a researcher to contribute to the development and experimental validation of integrated terrestrial and non-terrestrial 5G/6G communication systems.

Qualifications and Experience

  • We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, energetic person, aiming at significantly improving his or her career perspectives in both public and private sectors. The successful applicant should have the competencies of R1 category.

Required qualifications/skills/experience — 70 points

  • Master’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a closely related field — 10 points
  • Demonstrated experience in the implementation, integration and experimental validation of communication systems — 30 points
  • Hands-on experience with software-defined radio platforms, open-source 5G stacks and laboratory testbeds — 15 points
  • Experience in satellite communications and terrestrial–non-terrestrial network integration, including GEO or LEO systems — 10 points
  • Good written and spoken English — 10 points

Other skills that are valuable, but not mandatory — 30 points

  • Participation in European Commission or European Space Agency R&D projects related to 5G/6G and satellite communications — 10 points
  • Experience conducting laboratory or field trials over operational satellite links — 8 points
  • Knowledge of cloud-native 5G architectures, virtualised network functions and end-to-end system integration — 5 points
  • Scientific publications in 5G/6G, NTN or experimental wireless communications — 5 points
  • Ability to prepare technical documentation, project deliverables and presentations — 2 points

  • The Centre Tecnològic de Telecomunicaciones de Catalunya (CTTC) is a non-profit public sector research institution dedicated to fundamental and applied research activities, focused mainly on technologies related to the physical, data link and network layers of communication systems and Geomatics.
