This industrial contract is part of an ESA project led by Tecnobit (Grupo Oesía), aimed at developing a high-capacity (2.5–100 Gbps) hybrid analogue–digital free-space optical (FSO) communication system for secure Optical Inter-Satellite Links (OISLs). The role of CTTC includes consolidating OISL system requirements, performing link budget analysis, and defining the transceiver architecture in accordance with the guidelines of the Space Development Agency (SDA) and ESA Specifications for Terabit/second Optical Links (ESTOL), as well as designing discrete digital and analogue optical transceivers and their functional testing and evaluation platform.
