Following his re-election to the 6G Industry Association (6G-IA) Governing Board, Dr. Carles Antón-Haro has been appointed member of the Governing Board of the Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU), representing the private side for the 2026–2029 term. This further strengthens CTTC’s position at the core of Europe’s 6G ecosystem.
The SNS JU Governing Board is the key decision-making body of Europe’s public-private partnership on 6G, bringing together the European Commission and industry/research actors via the 6G-IA. It defines strategic priorities, adopts workprogrammes, and steers major R&I investments under Horizon Europe, while ensuring alignment with broader EU digital initiatives such as CEF Digital, Digital Europe, and InvestEU. Its role is especially critical in view of the transition towards FP10, where SNS JU is expected to remain central in driving Europe’s technological sovereignty and global competitiveness in 6G.
The private side of the board includes leading organizations such as Nokia (Chair), Telefónica, Ericsson, Eurescom, and CTTC. Notably, CTTC is the only representative from academia across Europe, underlining its unique role in bridging research, industry, and policy.
This appointment further consolidates Carles Antón-Haro’s influence in shaping Europe’s 6G strategy and reinforces CTTC’s contribution to future European research and innovation agendas.
