The newly elected Governing Board of the Smart Networks and Services Industry Association (6G-IA) was announced at the General Assembly held on March 26, 2026. CTTC’s Director of EU Programmes and Industry Contracts, Dr. Carles Antón-Haro, has been re-elected for a second consecutive term as a Board Member in the Research Domain, representing R&D centres and academia across Europe.

This renewed mandate comes at a particularly relevant moment, as Horizon Europe transitions towards the next Framework Programme (FP10), and the future evolution of the Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU) will be shaped under the guidance of the 6G-IA Governing Board.

CTTC has been a member of the 6G-IA Governing Board—formerly 5G-IA—since its creation in 2015. It is one of only two academic representatives and the only Spanish research centre on the Board, underscoring its strong international positioning in next-generation communications research.

The 6G-IA represents the voice of European industry and research in next-generation networks and services, contributing to strategic priorities, SNS R&I Work Programmes, and key publications such as the “European Vision on 6G systems,” as well as position papers on technological sovereignty and sustainability. Dr. Antón-Haro has actively contributed to these activities, including editorial roles.

The Governing Board for the 2026–2029 term includes leading stakeholders across the telecommunications ecosystem:

Large industry: Nokia, Telecom Italia, Deutsche Telekom, Ericsson, Telefónica, Keysight, Orange, Samsung, Telenor, Thales

    SMEs: EURESCOM, Nextworks

    Academia: CTTC, TNO

    Associations: ERTICO, PSCE Forum

CTTC congratulates Dr. Carles Antón-Haro on his re-election and wishes him every success in his responsibilities in the coming years.
