This industrial contract is involved in an ESA project led by INSTER ( Grupo Oesia), aiming the development of an advanced and integrated navigation system for Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), leveraging signals of opportunity from Low Earth Orbit (LEO) communication constellations -particularly in Ka-band- to generate robust Positioning and Navigation observables. The role of CTTC is to design the positioning engine fusing the position derived by the Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) and the information from LEO observables like Doppler shift and direction of arrival. Specific techniques for the estimation of these observables will be also addressed. Finaly, a system simulator will be developed to evaluate the proposed solutions and estimate the achievable system performance.
