Natalia Vesselinova earned her M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in telecommunications engineering from the Technical University of Sofia and Technical University of Catalonia (UPC), respectively and the Nordic Five Tech M.Sc. degree in applied and engineering mathematics from Aalto University and Chalmers University of Technology.

Natalia’s scientific interests and correspondingly research focus have been at the intersection of mobile wireless communication networks and applied mathematics (statistics, optimisation, and machine learning). Her research outcomes have been reported in 5 journal publications and 15 conference proceedings. She has participated as a (senior) researcher in scientific projects funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Technology (one related to localization of terminals with application to network resource optimisation and another to ubiquitous network based IP), the Finnish Funding Agency Tekes (ICT SHOK Future Internet), the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research SSF (TCC and ICE), and the European Commission (COST 290 Wi-QoS Action, Celtic Plus 5G-PERFECTA, and 5GROUTES). At the beginning of her professional carrier, she has served as the Chair of the IEEE Student Branch at TU-Sofia. Natalia has been serving as a TPC member and reviewer to international conferences and journals too.

Her research has been supported by highly competitive grants (by the Bulgarian Telecommunications Company in 2001, the Spanish AECI-MEC in 2004 and FPI in 2005, the Finnish CIMO in 2009, the EU ERCIM in 2013, and Finnish HIIT in 2019).
