Who are we looking for?

The recently established Adaptive Processing Technologies (ADAPT) Research Unit, a part of the former PHYCOM department of the Communication Technologies Division of the CTTC, is searching for interested candidates in a Researcher position.

We offer a full-time temporary position to work in the context of the Spanish Grant PROGRESSUS, PCI2020-112049.

The successful applicant should have a MSc degree in Telecommunications, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science and will carry out research and development activities on topics related to ML-based management of smart grids.

Qualifications and Experience

We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, energetic person, aiming at significantly improving his or her career perspectives in both public and private sectors. The successful applicant should have a MSc degree in Telecommunications, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or a closely related field.

Required skills:

  • Hands-on experience with lab-based experimental validation and testing using hardware setups or testbeds.
  • Experience with co-processing platforms (e.g., Ettus Research USRP boards)
  • Experience in hardware procurement
  • Experience with Python and Matlab
  • Experience with GPU-accelerated data processing (e.g., CUDA)
  • Familiarity of AI/ML algorithms and methodologies
  • Familiarity with Machine Learning frameworks such as Keras, TensorFlow or Sionna.
  • Experience in programming signal processing algorithms using open-source frameworks (e.g., GNU radio)
  • Good analytical skills.

Other skills that are valuable, but not mandatory are:

  • Good writing skills
  • Experience in R&D projects carried out either in the context of research institutions or industry.
  • A candidate willing to blend his/her expertise with the PROGRESSUS ML framework
  • Participate in publication efforts.
  • Medium/High oral and written English communication skills.
