The objective of the project is to work towards fitting the triple-play (IP-TV, IP-Telephony and Internet) services into communication networks, which have been so fardesigned to just provide plain broadband connectivty. The provision of the necessary QoS requirements for each service is the central point of R2D2. Therefore, the aim of R2D2 is to foster the European Telecommunications industry in its transition from an infrastructure and connection driven industry to a service and content driven industry (as stated in the CELTIC purple book). Broadband connectivity will not longer be the “product” to sell, being replaced for “personalised services”.
