The vision of the ACROPOLIS NoE (ICT-2009.1.1) is to integrate European research efforts in the domains of cooperative and cognitive communications such that coexistence and capabilities of future networks operating both in the licensed and open spectrum bands can be significantly increased. The key issue here is the pooling of our knowledge on flexible radios, coexistence methods, cognitive radio technologies, and also regulatory and economical issues, in order to facilitate harmonised and interdisciplinary joint research and roadmapping.
