The aim of this project is to develop advanced techniques for Filter-bank Multi-carrier (FBMC) modulations covering aspects related with the implementation of this type of modulation in practical communication systems. In this sense, the objectives include the development of channel estimation strategies, the design of optimum pulse-shapes, and the study of simplified equalization techniques. This project will also investigate novel timing and frequency synchronization algorithms for FBMC modulations, including estimation, correction, and tracking strategies. Finally, the combination of FMBC with adaptive coding and modulation techniques, as a way to improve the performance and capacity of the communication link, will also be studied.
