CTTC is awarded with the special prize Castelldefels city

09 June 2010

CTTC obtained one of the Castelldefels city prizes awarded by the city hall.

The Centre Tecnològic de Telecomunicacions de Catalunya (CTTC) obtained one of the Castelldefels city prizes awarded by the city hall. These prizes are awarded every year to acknowledge the tasks of those people and institutions working towards the progress and the civic mindedness, both in Castelldefels and around the world. The ceremony took place in the Castelldefels city hall on 7 of May, and from CTTC Simó Aliana, the General Administrator, and Carles Antón, the Director of International Relations, received the prize.

After less than eight years, CTTC has successfully achieved the target of international reputation, has contributed to the scientific community with around 800 publications in international journals and conferences and has participated in over 60 research projects at both national and international levels, funded from both competitive and industrial initiatives. As a result of that, currently the main challenge of CTTC consists in confirming itself as a solid partner for the industry. For this reason, the focus of technology transfer at CTTC is to take advantage of the basic research by applying it to technology innovation projects with the industry.

Since July 2005, CTTC is located in the Parc Mediterrani de la Tecnologia, in Castelldefels, and has always tried to collaborate with the local administration in the context of the technological initiatives which are periodically organized. One example is the continuous participation in the Science Week of Castelldefels.

As a result of all that, the special prize of Castelldefels city obtained by CTTC represents a public acknowledgment to those industries and institutions, which, independently of their area of activity, have contributed to the social, economic and technological development of the city.
