Networking software engineer (Ref. 03/2011-01, 1 position): The candidate must possess a strong background knowledge in the field of networking, in particular of the Internet protocol stack and of the inner working of the most important protocols. The candidate must be experienced in software development, especially in the use of the C and C++ languages, in network programming (e.g., use of sockets and implementation/modification of networking protocols), and in the use of scripting languages (e.g., bash, perl). The candidate must also be familiar with the system administration of GNU/Linux operating systems and the use of GNU/Linux software development tools (build systems, debugging tools, version control systems, etc.).

In addition, it will be considered a plus if the candidate possesses knowledge on one or more of the following: 3G systems (especially the Core Network), the SIP protocol, Radius/Diameter, the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), the fundamentals of wireless systems, and other programming languages (e.g., Java, Python). Fluency in English is required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Applicants must hold an MSc/Engineering degree in telecommunications, electronics, computer science or related fields, capacity of carrying out innovative research independently. Experience in R&D or industrial projects carried out in the context of research institutions and centres is a plus.

CONDITIONS

This is a temporary contract, with an initial duration of 12 months. Profiles with different levels of work experience are sought. The rank and gross salary, in the range 22,000-25,000 €/year (graduate engineers) and 27,000-30,000 €/year (skilled engineers), will be determined according to qualifications and work experience.
