Bio

J. Oriol Font Bach (Terrassa, 1981) received his M.Sc. degree in Computer Engineering from the Autònoma University of Barcelona (UAB, 2004). As part of his initial post-graduate studies he also obtained a Master in Design of Intregrated Circuits from the Autònoma University of Barcelona (UAB, 2006). The main research topics he has been involved with, include the design automation of both System-On-Chip (SoC) and Network-On-Chip (NoC) systems and efficient IP reuse for FPGA-based embedded systems.

He has joined the CTTC in November 2006, as a research engineer working in real-time baseband signal processing implementations based on FPGA, for MIMO-OFDM(A) systems. His main duty is the design, implementation and verification of FPGA-based IP blocks (i.e., custom VHDL code), composing advanced PHY-layer MIMO signal processing algorithms, as part of experimental research in future wireless communication systems. The experimental work that he is carrying on is mainly performed within the GEDOMIS testbed environment.

Currently, he is also pursuing his Ph.D thesis at the Department of Signal Theory and Communications of the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC). His main research interest areas include baseband digital signal processing for multi-carrier communication systems, real-time implementation of advanced MIMO-OFDM systems (e.g., FPGA-based), real-world wireless communication system deployment accounting for MIMO channels and hardware limitations, multi-user MIMO systems, adaptive communication schemes (e.g., closed-loop MIMO), design automation and efficient IP reuse.
