Bio
Luis Blanco Botana received his M.S. degree in electrical engineering (Telecommunications) in 2006 and the European master of research on information technologies and communications technologies (MERIT) in 2012 from the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC). The same year he carried out postgraduate studies in quantitative techniques for financial markets in the UPC.
He received the INNOVATIA award in 2004 from IDE-CESEM (Instituto de Directivos de empresa, Madrid) and in 2003 his team was awarded with one the INNOVA awards from UPC-EAE (Escuela de Administración de Empresas, Barcelona).
He joined the CTTC in 2006 as a research engineer. During his time in CTTC he has participated in several European-funded projects (e.g. COOPCOM and BeFemto) and industrial-funded projects. The development of these projects allowed him to gain experience in the research and the design of baseband signal processing algorithms and the implementation of multicarrier technologies (LTE).
His current research areas of interest include sparse signal representation, statistical and array signal processing, estimation theory, LTE and multicarrier systems.
