Bio
Josep M. Fàbrega was born in Girona, Spain, in 1977. He received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in telecomm engineering from UPC-BarcelonaTech university, Barcelona, Spain, in 2002 and 2006, respectively. In 2004, he was early appointed to the scientific staff of the UPC optical communications laboratory where he carried out the Ph.D. research which involved the study, development and implementation of coherent optical systems; obtaining the Ph.D. degree in 2010 (with honors).
He is currently a Postdoc Researcher in CTTC, Castelldefels, Spain, in the Optical Networking Area. He has has authored or co-authored more than 30 papers, including 2 patent applications. His research interests are focused towards broadband optical communications emphasizing on advanced modulation formats, coherent reception, and phase recovery.
Dr. Fàbrega is a member of the Optical Society of America (OSA) and the IEEE Photonics Society; and received the EuroFOS best student research award for his Ph.D. thesis in 2010.
