Bio

Jorge Baranda (Barcelona,1984) received his MSc. degree in Telecommunications Engineering and his MSc. in Science of Information and Communication Technologies (MINT) from the ETSETB-Technical University of Catalonia (UPC) in July 2008.

His Master Thesis consisted of the development of a system to detect and locate people in images and videos using Histogram of Oriented Gradients. This work was developed within the Video Processing and Analysis group (VPA) of Philips Research at the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven (The Netherlands).

In October 2007, he received the "Leonardo da Vinci" grant from the Universitat Ramón Llull to help in the development of his Master Thesis.

In November 2009 he joined the CTTC as a research engineer. Prior to this, he worked at GMV in the Information Security department where he developed works towards the detection of failures in the security of nets and the introduction of new measures to reinforce the security of these nets.

His current interests are focused in wireless communication systems, signal and image processing and satellite communications.
