IP Technologies

Overview

The goal of the IP Technologies Area is the definition of an architecture allowing the autonomic operation of complex, heterogeneous and dynamic networks, by defining the guiding principles for providing seamless mobility of networks, their nodes, and end-users, and offering the required support to applications. This entails the design and performance analysis (both theoretical and experimental) of mechanisms for self-organization, mobility, quality of service, and performance monitoring integrating wired and wireless networks with diverse characteristics. Particularly important is the development of testbeds including all the above concepts, which will allow the transfer of knowledge from research to industry. Given the growing complexity of networks, the above goal can only be accomplished by applying a multidisciplinary approach through a close collaboration with the rest of research areas and the engineering unit of the CTTC.
